Rangers defender Nikola Katic's situation with Hajduk Split cleared up
Rangers can recall defender Nikola Katic from his loan at Hadjuk Split, according to the club’s sporting director Mindaugas Nikolicius.
Speaking about the 24-year-old’s move to Croatia, Nikolicius cleared up the confusion surrounding Katic. It appears as if there is no option to buy included in the deal, despite claims suggesting there was [Glasgow Live].
Instead, the Gers can recall Katic at any time, while the Croatian side can send him back at any time as well [the Scottish Sun].
He said: “The contract is a loan with the offer of a recall. We can do the same; that’s the way these things happen in loan deals like this.
“Nikola had other offers. He is a big signing for Hajduk. [He is] a great defender who can get his way into the national team if he plays well for us and returns to the level he was at when he was with Rangers.
“He is feeling good and is fully fit. He has been in full training for several months already.
“I think our fans will love him.”
Katic to return to Ibrox?
It seems as if the 24-year-old could be back with the Gers for the start of next season or even before, depending on injuries or if he struggles for Hajduk Split.
Either way, though, it doesn’t appear as if the Croatian side have an option to buy inserted into Katic’s contract, which is good news for the Gers.
The 24-year-old has had a horrible time with injury, but this loan move gives him an ideal chance to gain some valuable first-team minutes and return to Ibrox, ready to compete with the other centre-backs.
This is a player who Steven Gerrard admitted he loves, and it would be a shame if his Rangers career were to end the way it has [STV Sport].
So, we hope Katic does well and then returns to the Gers.
