Nikola Katic to leave Rangers on loan today - Jordan Campbell
Rangers defender Nikola Katic is set to leave Ibrox on loan before tonight’s deadline, according to Jordan Campbell.
The Athletic journalist has shared that the enforcer will move to his home nation in Croatia to build up his fitness after injury.
It is suggested that a recall clause should be included in the deal should Steven Gerrard wish to use that at any stage of the season.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, Campbell shared the update that will no doubt be heavily supported around Ibrox.
“Understand that Nikola Katic is heading on loan to a Croatian club.
Rangers have built up his fitness this summer but he needs to play football after such a long time out. Expect that there will be a recall clause in the deal, as is common when a player is being monitored.”
This is exactly what Katic needs.
Long-term injuries are awful for players, and the Croatian enforcer was in the form of his life before his enforced break.
There had been strong rumours that Katic would be allowed to leave Ibrox earlier this month, and it finally looks set to happen.
Gerrard will be more than happy for this to happen, with plenty of options available in his current squad.
Conor Goldson, Leon Balogun, Filip Helander and Jack Simpson are all ahead in the pecking order and hand the Bears serious depth.
If any sort of injury crisis was to happen, the recall clause is handy and Katic should come back sharp given he plays frequently.
