Gustavo Hamer reveals he has never spoken to Rangers about joining the club

Gustavo Hamer has revealed that he has never spoken to Rangers about joining the club, and he has no idea where that story came from.

Speaking to Voetbal Primeur, the Coventry City player revealed that he has never spoken to the Gers about moving to Ibrox.

However, the 24-year-old had been linked with a move to Rangers by Give Me Sport, but it appears as if there was no truth in that report and Hamer, as of yet, has not had any discussions with Rangers.

He said: “My girlfriend also said: ‘oh nice that you are going to Rangers for four million. You could have said that to me.’

“They all know more than I do.

“Those rumours are going around very fast here. [A] teammate also made a joke recently ‘nice that you leave and don’t tell [the] group’.

“It said that I had a verbal agreement with Rangers, but I’ve never spoken to them.”

Hamer won’t be moving to Ibrox.

The Dutchman is a defensive midfielder who has made 48 appearances for Coventry since he joined them in the summer of 2020.

He has been described as a “class act” by Sky Sports pundit Ali Maxwell in the past; given that the Gers had been looking at another midfielder, you can see why he was linked [the Coventry Telegraph].

However, this is conclusive proof that Hamer has never had any conversation with the Gers about joining them.

It would be interesting to see if Rangers look at him in the future as he is clearly performing well in the Championship for a rather unfancied side and could be someone that would make an impression at Ibrox.

For now, though, it is probably time to forget about Hamer as the player has rubbished all rumours linking him with a move to Glasgow.

In other Rangers news, the Gers could be dealt another COVID blow.
