Rangers man Jack Simpson could miss the Alashkert match
Rangers defender Jack Simpson is set to miss the Gers’ game against Alashkert, according to the Scottish Sun.
They claim that the former Bournemouth man hasn’t travelled with the group even though he might not have been involved in the match anyway.
If this report turns out to be true then, the Gers could be short in defence was James Tavernier and Calvin Bassey also missing the match on Thursday evening.
Will the Gers miss Simpson?
Given that in seven games this season, Simpson has only appeared for 90 minutes in all competitions, we can’t imagine that the Gers will miss him too much.
However, he has been on the bench five times this season, so if he hasn’t travelled, that is another spot that the Gers will have to fill.
Simpson was signed by Rangers earlier this year from Bournemouth for just over £1million, but he has only made eight appearances for the club since then.
However, the 24-year-old is versatile and can play anywhere across the back four and has been described as “amazing” by Tim Davis his former youth coach at Weymouth [Dorset Echo].
So, he could be a useful player for the Gers in times like these, and if he is also unavailable, that could cause Rangers another problem, which they don’t need at the moment.
Simpson’s absence hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, but the Scottish Sun seem to believe that he hasn’t made the journey to Armenia.
So, we will have to see if they are right or not.
In other Rangers news, the Gers might face a battle to cling onto one of their stars.
