Rangers predicted to beat Celtic by Steven Pressley
Former Rangers man Steven Pressley believes that the Gers will have too much for Celtic in the first Old Firm clash of the season on Sunday.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the former Celtic and Rangers player revealed that he thinks Steven Gerrard’s side will have too much for the Bhoys despite Celtic’s strong start to the season.
Rangers had a bit of a wobble early on but have now won three games in a row in all competitions as they look to assert their dominance over their city rivals.
Pressley said: “I think this is a game where Rangers will be too strong for them.
“I think that Celtic are showing signs of playing the aggressive style of football that the Celtic fans want to see, but I still have concerns about them defensively.
“So I think a lot of questions need to be answered by these players, and I think that Rangers do have the strength, especially defensively, for this fixture.”
Pressley sounds confident.
Ultimately, it appears as if Pressley believes that the difference will be the Gers’ defence.
Now, considering that last season in the league, they only conceded 13 goals all season, we can see why the 47-year-old is confident about the Gers beating the Bhoys.
However, that defence, which was so good last year, has already conceded three goals in just three games in the league.
So, there is work to be done in that department, and the Bhoys have scored 13 goals already in the league this season.
Therefore, Rangers could face a battle to keep a clean sheet, but we do agree with Pressley that the Gers will win and earn the bragging rights, and more importantly, take a big step forward in the title race.
Although it is early days, this fixture could go a long way to deciding who will be crowned the SPFL Champions come the end of the campaign.
In other Rangers news, Brian Laudrup has made an odd claim on the Gers.
