Brian Laudrup makes baffling Rangers-Celtic claim ahead of Old Firm derby

Celtic are in better shape than Rangers ahead of Old Firm clash this weekend, claims Brian Laudrup.

The two arch rivals are set to go head to head on Sunday with bragging rights and table positions at stake.

While both are level on points, Celtic’s superior goal difference sees them sitting a place above Rangers.

Laudrup believes that they’re the form team going into the game and that the Gers are not as prepared as their rivals.

In his column for The Scottish Daily Mail [page 77], he wrote, “If you look at it from the outside – not as a fan of either club – you would say Celtic definitely look the more prepared side ahead of Sunday’s first Old Firm game.

“This is a different challenge for Rangers as the reigning champions. And one they have to rise to. So far this term, the balance of their team is not quite what it was.

“Postecoglou has implemented his ideas very quickly. Another six goals were scored on Saturday. Yes, it was against a St Mirren team reduced to ten men but it again showed how positive they want to be. I think it must be of some concern at Ibrox.”

More prepared?

Much like us, Celtic have got knocked out of the Champions League, albeit a round earlier and are playing in the Europa League qualifiers.

Both teams have won and lost the same amount of league games so to suggest that they’ve done better going into this one is ridiculous.

We’ve clearly got the better side and better head coach and despite our poor start to the season we’ve got as many points as they do.

This game is there for the taking and despite Ange Postecoglou’s attacking brand of football, we’re confident that we can pick up three points.

It takes a while for new signings to adapt, as has been the case with John Lundstram, but we back him to improve and winning games like this one would do wonders to his confidence and others inside the dressing room.
