Liverpool could join race to sign Nathan Patterson

Premier League giants Liverpool could look to prise Nathan Patterson away from Rangers this summer, according to The Scottish Sun.

Their Merseyside rivals Everton have already tabled an offer for the 19-year-old which has been knocked back by the Glasgow outfit, per Heart & Hand Podcast.

However, Liverpool may enter the race to sign him as they have been tracking the Scotland international for a year and a half.

Discussing the reported £5million bid at the weekend, Gerrard said, “That’s definitely come out of a joke book, surely. We want to keep our best players, especially our home-grown and local ones.

“He’s not someone we’re looking to move on, but every single person has got a number. But let me tell you now, £5million is so far away it’s unreal.”

Getting interesting

We clearly value Patterson highly and Steven Gerrard is expected to do whatever he can to keep hold of the player, but it could be a tempting move from Patterson’s perspective.

In Jurgen Klopp, he would be playing for one of the best managers in the world and for a team that challenge for silverware, including the Champions League each season.

We’re in a dire financial situation and knowing the spending power of the Reds, we could demand a huge transfer fee in order to part ways with him.

It’s good to see Patterson making a name for him in other countries now as he previously was only rated by SPFL viewers.

What could work for us is the fact that Liverpool already have Trent Alexander-Arnold and Neco Williams at right-back so they will not be in immediate need of reinforcements in that department.

We’re unlikely to let him go on the cheap either, so this one seems unlikely, as things stand.
