Billy Dodds blown away by perfect Connor Goldson header in Rangers v Ross County
Billy Dodds was raving about Connor Goldson after the defender’s header put Rangers 2-0 ahead in the first half against Ross County at Victoria Park on Sunday.
Joe Aribo scored a superb goal to open the scoring in the 15th minute and four minutes later, Goldson netted his first of the season with a headed effort.
Goldson had another chance to score towards the end of the half when he was completely unmarked at the backpost.
As for his goal, Dodds was thrilled with the quality of the centre-back’s header.
“A fine header from Goldson to put a commanding Rangers 2-0 in front.
“A couple of hick-ups have rocked Rangers a bit, but I think this lovely surface is helping and Ross County can’t live with it.”
Finally, Rangers are showing the form that saw them crowned champions of Scotland last season.
We’ve had a very poor start to the season other than the hammering of Livingston on opening day and the routine League Cup win over Dunfermline.
In Europe, Steven Gerrard’s men have been woeful and the defeat to Dundee United in their last league game summed up just about everything bad about how we’ve played so far.
However, against Ross County, it was clear that Gerrard has his men back to their best.
The Staggies really struggled to cope with our attacking play and they were lucky to still be in the game with the score 2-1 to the Gers at half-time.
Goldson’s been superb, as has almost every other player for the Light Blues.
We’d still like to see a lot more from Ryan Kent though. Let’s hope he can get himself on the scoresheet after the break.
