YouTube star David Vujanic raves about Mirko Ivanic after Rangers transfer bid
YouTube star David Vujanic claims Mirko Ivanic will “flourish” in the Scottish Premiership if the Crvena Zvezda midfielder joins Rangers this summer.
Mozzart Sport have this week reported that the Gers have made a bid worth around £3million for the 28-year-old Montenegro international, who’s seen as one of the best players in Serbia’s top-flight.
Vujanic, who was born in Croatia but grew up in Serbia before moving to England, is an expert on Balkan football and plays the game himself having represented Hashtag United and played in the EE Wembley Cup.
Vuj has over 110,000 YouTube subscribers on his personal account and he seems to be fully aware of Ivanic’s strengths and weaknesses amid a potential move to Rangers.
“Good technically, high IQ and awareness,” said Vuj via his personal Twitter account.
“[He] should flourish in [the] Scottish league.”
Vuj did, however, add that Ivanic is “perhaps at times inconsistent”.
It remains to be seen how much truth is behind this because, so far, we’ve only seen one report emanate from Serbia about Ivanic and Rangers.
Steven Gerrard landed Juninho Bacuna from Huddersfield on Thursday and the Curacao international plays in similar positions to Ivanic.
Bacuna is versatile and can play out wide on the right, as a right-back or as an attacking midfielder.
Ivanic is also an attacking midfielder but he can also play out on the left. According to transfermarkt, the Montenegro international made 12 appearances on the left-wing last season.
He played more in the middle though and scored 20 goals and supplied 16 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions as Crvena Zvezda reached the Europa League knock-out stages and won the Serbian Super Liga.
Ivanic is definitely someone who would be of use at Ibrox and we’re crying out for extra depth on the left-hand side of Gerrard’s attack.
However, unless players are sold, we don’t see how the club will be able to justify signing yet another midfield player.
