Fashion Sakala ruled out v Ross County with groin issue

Steven Gerrard has confirmed his Rangers team news for the Scottish Premiership clash against Ross County.

Fashion Sakala looks set to continue his spell on the sidelines, with the summer signing struggling with a groin issue.

Ryan Jack and Nnamdi Ofoborh are both getting closer to a return, with the latter being sent for further tests this week.

Confirmed in Friday’s press conference as shared on the Bears’ official Twitter account, Gerrard shared the latest.

“Jack is progressing well and is getting closer, he is one we are really looking forward to having back,” he said. “He is a standard setter.

“Nnamdi has further tests so we are being patient and looking forward to getting him back. Fashion Sakala has a small groin issue.”

Jack is the one player in this squad who wouldn’t stand for the levels that are currently being shown in every single game.

The Bears are struggling with their intensity levels and replicating what they did last season, and having a full squad available will help that immensely.

Sakala brings serious pace in the final third, and Ofoborh is currently an unknown who could turn into a serious option in midfield.

Gerrard won’t have settled on a starting XI yet, and these players returning to training will give him a bigger headache.

It is one that he will welcome though, so hopefully, they can return sooner rather than later at Auchenhowie.
