Rangers only have another three weeks to strengthen their squad in this window, and the links are in overdrive.

The Bears have been sensationally linked with a return for David Bates on Thursday, who is currently in Germany with Hamburg/

Homme du Match have reported that the Germans may be open to selling the 24-year-old, who only has one year left on his current deal.

Bates left Ibrox back in 2018, funnily enough only a couple of days into the tenure of Steven Gerrard.

It is highly unlikely that the gaffer would want to seal this move given that he would have given the green light for his exit.

The Bears are packed with options in the heart of defence and Nikola Katic is set to add to them by returning from injury.

Conor Goldson, Leon Balogun, Flip Helander and Jack Simpson are all also options available in Glasgow, and the final third is likely to be more of a priority.

We asked our esteemed panel of Super Fans over on Facebook if they would be happy with this news, and it was an overwhelming response.

They urged the Bears to move on, labelling the move a joke and that he was only good enough to be a ball boy should he return.
