Alex McLeish reacts as Juan Alegria jets in to seal Rangers move
We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Alex McLeish has reacted to the news that Rangers look set to seal the transfer of Juan Alegria this month.
The Daily Record reported this week that the Honka striker is set to jet into Glasgow to complete move before the deadline passes.
McLeish has predicted big things, with South American players usually bringing great technical ability to Scotland.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “The younger ones, they don’t have all the answers but they have enthusiasm.
“As long as they show that and the will, those from Colombia usually have good technical ability.“
The last time we poached a Colombian from Finland, magic things happened.
Alfredo Morelos will be able to take Alegria under his wing, and act as his mentor as he looks to make a huge impact at Ibrox.
With the options we have in the final third, Steven Gerrard will be eager to see the young forward with the ‘B’ team first at Auchenhowie.
Should he impress over his first year at the club, there should be every chance he can make the jump into the first team.
Morelos’ success will lead to there being huge expectations behind Alegria once he arrives from the same path, and he can’t let that pressure get to him, but instead use it to thrive.
