Rangers & Ipswich agree six-figure sum for George Edmundson

Rangers have agreed a significant six-figure sum with Ipswich Town for George Edmundson, according to East Anglian Times.

The online outlet has reported that personal terms have already been completed ahead of a permanent move.

It is suggested that a medical will be completed today, and then the move should be announced imminently.

Rangers concluded their pre-season plans this weekend, and it was a bad weekend for the English defender.

Despite games against both Brighton and Real Madrid, the 23-year-old lost out to the likes of Jack Simpson at Ibrox.

Edmundson has been described as “highly-rated” in Glasgow but has lost trust since breaching COVID-19 rules last season.

The defender has never had a chance since that happened and was even shipped out to Derby last season.

Despite that being in the Championship, Edmundson is now set for life in League One with the Tractor Boys.

Good riddance?

Edmundson has never really proven himself to be an effective option at Ibrox, and parting ways is the best possible move right now.

Conor Goldson, Filip Helander, Simpson, Leon Balogun are all ahead of him, and Nikola Katic could also be added to that after his return.

Getting back the £750,000 spent on Edmundson to Oldham back in 2019 could represent good business, especially for a player who has gone backwards since.

That money must be used to tie Goldson down to better and longer terms in Glasgow, something that is looking imminent.

Edmundson finally looks set to leave, and it would be hard to find one Bears fan who is disappointed by the news.
