Rangers fans are keen on having Peterborough United striker Jonson Clarke-Harris at Ibrox this summer.
According to the Daily Record, the 27-year-old wants to join the Scottish Premiership giants ahead of the likes of West Brom, Sheffield United and CSKA Moscow after they scouted him last season.
Clarke-Harris bagged 33 goals and weighed in with three assists in 48 appearances across all competitions last season, helping the Posh seal promotion to the English Championship.
We asked our esteemed panel of Rangers Super Fans over on Facebook, and most of them agreed that the former Rotherham United forward would be a good addition to Steven Gerrard’s side.
Here is what they said:
Rangers are in need of attacking firepower to boost their chances of playing in the group stages of the Champions League for the first time since 2011.
Alfredo Morelos is still on holiday and is expected to be unavailable for both legs of the third qualifying round on August 4 and August 10 against either Malmo or Helsinki.
Kemar Roofe is suspended, while Jermain Defoe could still be struggling for full fitness having limped off during last weekend’s friendly against Arsenal.
The veteran did come on yesterday against Brighton and is expected to see action against Real Madrid later today.
Nevertheless, we need a striker as soon as possible, and snapping up the prolific Clarke-Harris makes a lot of sense.
Having a quality finisher leading the line for both legs of the Champions League qualifiers would be the difference between where we will be playing in Europe next season, and Rangers have to act first.
The English striker is not likely to come cheap, though, given Peterborough’s notoriety for always looking to maximise profit on their most-valued players.
We currently have Defoe, Cedric Itten and Fashion Sakala available for the qualifiers, and hopefully, they can get the job done.
In other Rangers news, announcement is due this week after major Ibrox development.
