George Edmundson has agreed a deal to leave Rangers this summer
Rangers centre-back George Edmundson has agreed a deal to leave Ibrox this summer after signing a three-year contract with an unnamed club, according to Record Sport.
The Englishman, 24, joined the Light Blues from Oldham in 2019, spending the second half of last term at Derby County.
Daily Record shared on their live blog today [at 18.15] that the defender has all but sealed a move away from the Scottish Premiership champions.
Finally?
Edmundson was not included in the matchday squad for Saturday clash against Brighton and Hove Albion, and that could mean an exit is indeed on the cards.
English Championship newcomers Peterborough United have been linked with the Rangers centre-back this summer [Daily Record] having been keen on him while at Oldham.
While Gers manager Steven Gerrard wants Edmundson in his first-team plans next season, Peterborough were said to be willing to make a significant six-figure offer if the Ibrox outfit change their stance [Daily Record].
We do not know if they are the ones he has struck a deal with, but it would not come as a surprise if they are.
Derby are also interested in recruiting his services permanently, and it seems Rangers are ready to cash in on him.
Edmundson featured in just 15 games across all competitions in his first season at Ibrox and he is likely to struggle for regular playing chances given our current options in the position.
Gerrard is likely to bring another centre-back in should the English defender leave, and his exit would not be seen as a huge blow despite his talents.
Some transfers do not work out, and we are going to have to put this one in that category once his exit is not confirmed.
