Rangers should go all out to sign Danilho Doekhi after his latest comments

Rangers have been linked with a move for Vitesse Arnhem centre-back Danilho Doekhi by De Telegraaf and his latest comments suggest that he could be open to a move from the Eredivisie.

Speaking to De Gelderlander in his home country Doekhi revealed that “interest has been shown by various clubs”. However, as of yet, “nothing concrete” has emerged, but these comments certainly suggest that the 23-year-old is keen on a move, and though he doesn’t name any clubs, the Gers have been linked with a move.

Rangers had an absolutely fantastic defence last season in the league as they only conceded 13 goals, which is incredible, and the likes of Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun played a crucial role for Steven Gerrard’s side.

However, now that Celtic have a new manager, you would expect the Gers to have more of a challenge on their hands this season, and a move for Doekhi could improve their defence even more.

If we look at the basic statistics, we can see that the 23-year-old averaged two tackles per game and made 1.6 interceptions per game as well [WhoScored].

These sound like good statistics, and if you compare them with Rangers’ squad, you can see that Doekhi would have topped the charts for both tackles and interceptions per game [WhoScored].

In terms of aerial duels won per game, Doekhi would have finished in third place ahead of Balogun but behind Filip Helander and Goldson.

So on the defensive side of things, Doekhi is clearly rock solid and would fit into this Rangers side in that respect.

On the ball, it could be argued that he has to make some improvements as his passing success rate was lower than most of Rangers’ regular centre-backs.

However, that is something that he could learn with time and shouldn’t be enough to put anyone off.

Simply because of how good he was defensively last season, we believe that Doekhi would be a good signing for the Gers, and he sounds open to a move as well, which can only be a good thing.

In other Rangers news, one reported Rangers target is fuming with his club over their price tag for him.
