Alex McLeish tips Cedric Itten for big Rangers season

Alex McLeish has tipped Rangers forward Cedric Itten for a big season at Ibrox after his positive start to pre-season.
The Swiss international scored the opening goal of pre-season through the week, finding the back of the net against Partick Thistle.
McLeish insisted that Itten is a “great developer” and believes that a good pre-season will catapult him into the Scottish Premiership.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “I saw some of the comments who were at the game.
“Cedric is one of those great developers, he’s not a youngster, but it took him a while to get going. With a good pre-season behind him, we could see the real Itten.
“He’s a big guy, muscular, good at set-pieces and by all accounts, the games he has played have been tremendous.
“It’s great to have options, and he did contribute at times last season.”
Itten scored a number of important goals last season.
The Swiss forward was rarely given the chance to prove himself consistently though, with Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe preferred.
Jermain Defoe even jumped ahead of the queue towards the end of the season and has started both games in pre-season.
Yesterday saw the Gers take on Tranmere away from home, and it was Defoe who was given the nod from the start yet again.
