Alex McLeish blown away as Rangers sign John Lundstram
We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Alex McLeish has been left blown away as Rangers completed the signing of John Lundstram this week.
The former Sheffield United midfielder arrived on a free transfer, signing a three-year deal at Ibrox.
McLeish believes it is an “inspirational” piece of business and an example of why the Bears’ recruitment team is one of the best around.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “For me, that is a magnificent signing.
“I always look for experience, not the whole team, but the spine of the side.
“This guy is just a great signing from Gerrard, that is recruitment at its best. That is one of the inspirational signings.”
What a great deal this is for the club.
Players rarely quit the Premier League for the Scottish Premiership, but the Bears reaching the Champions League and winning silverware has changed that.
Sheffield United were relegated, but they were out of this world after their promotion two years ago, and Lundstram was key to that in midfield.
The 27-year-old scored five goals and added three assists in his 34 appearances, and he will looking to double those numbers in Glasgow.
Working under Steven Gerrard will help him massively, and he will be looking to mould his game on the gaffer – something we can’t wait to see.
McLeish is right to be excited, join the queue.
