Rangers set for coaching reshuffle, McCallum set for promotion - Campbell
Rangers are set for a coaching reshuffle this summer as they prepare for another huge year at Ibrox.
The Bears didn’t have the best of starts as Kevin Thomson left Auchenhowie to replace Barry Ferguson at Kelty Hearts.
That left the B team with no manager, but it appears as though they have finally found their man to step up.
Under-18s boss David McCallum is set to be promoted to work alongside Brian Gilmour, as the pathway to the first-team is reinforced.
Jordan Campbell of the Athletic shared the update on Thursday on his personal Twitter account ahead of the changes.
“Understand Rangers U18’s head coach David McCallum will move up to the B team alongside Brian Gilmour as part of a couple of changes in the academy,” he wrote.
“His side won the CAS U18 league last month.”
McCallum knows what it takes to succeed at Ibrox, especially after he guided the youngsters to a league title last season.
Gilmour will also welcome the change as he gets another set of hands for the players looking to break into the first-team.
Steven Gerrard will want people trusted at the club, and McCallum’s success already means there is no-one better to bridge that gap.
With the Champions League alongside cup competitions and the attempt to retain the title, there could be plenty of opportunities for those on the fringes.
McCallum will be tasked with being that judge, and we hope he can produce many players similar to the likes of Nathan Patterson in his new role.
