Morelos' agent in Portugal for talks with FC Porto - bad news for Rangers
Maisfutebol suggests Alfredo Morelos could be edging closer to the exit door at Rangers.
The Portuguese news outlet reports that the Colombian’s agent is in Portugal and is having a meeting with FC Porto today (Thursday) ahead of a potential move away from Ibrox.
Maisfutebol adds that this meeting is just to iron out the final details of a five-year contract for the 25-year-old, and they are willing to offer him £1.72million per season in wages.
They also claim that Porto are willing to offer £10.3million to take Morelos from Rangers and the striker has “already told people close to him that he wants to play in Portuguese football”.
Should Rangers accept this bid?
In the last summer transfer window, Steven Gerrard’s side rejected a £16.25million offer from Lille, so are they really going to accept a lower offer from Porto?
It is highly doubtful, and given that the Gers will be playing Champions League football in the 2021/22 campaign, why would Morelos want to leave.
In fact, there have been reports suggesting that the 25-year-old wants to stay at Ibrox and play in the Champions League [The 4th Official].
It remains to be seen exactly what happens with Morelos’ future, but the Gers can probably get more money than £10.3m for him, and it would be a surprise if they were to accept this offer.
It would be nice if Morelos stayed with Rangers for at least the 2021/22 campaign after scoring 11 goals during the 2020/21 season to help the Gers win the league; it would be a shame if he played no part in Rangers’ first Champions League campaign since the 2010/11 season [The Scotsman].
In other Rangers news, fans are blown away by a report that the Gers are set to bid £2.5million for a new forward.
