Rangers Super Fans react to Santiago Moreno transfer news
This is part of a regular series from our panel of Rangers Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Ibrox. You can join in the discussion on our Rangers Insider Facebook page.
Rangers fans are excited by speculation linking the Scottish champions with a move for CD America attacker Santiago Moreno.
Earlier this week, WinSports Colombia journalist Pipe Sierra, who has shared updates on Alfredo Morelos’ situation in the past, reported that the Gers are ready to table a £2.5million bid to sign Moreno.
Sierra added that Norwich and an MLS club are also keen on signing the 21-year-old Colombian.
As eluded to earlier, Rangers already have big ties to Colombia with star striker Morelos hailing from the South American nation.
Colombia has always been a hot bed for emerging talent and it seems the Gers want to strike early when it comes to Moreno, who’s burst onto the scene at CD America.
And it seems Rangers fans want to see him arrive in Glasgow too with our panel of Super Fans seemingly excited by the transfer news.
Here is what they had to say:
Moreno is mainly a winger. He’s able to play on both flanks as well as up front but based on his 2021 campaign at America, he’s mainly a right-winger.
In 25 appearances in all competitions this year, Moreno has scored six goals and supplied four assists, with two of his goals coming in the Copa Libertadores against Atletico Mineiro of Brazil and Venezuelan outfit Deportivo La Guaira.
As he’s a right-sided winger who can score and create, we feel as though he could be a good addition at Ibrox.
Steven Gerrard doesn’t have a lot of wingers in his squad and players like Ianis Hagi, who one of the Super Fans mentioned, isn’t naturally a wide player despite being thrust out there last season.
Moreno is someone who actually quite excites us.
Let’s hope Sierra is right about the Light Blues trying to land him.
In other Rangers news, this player has dropped a hint he wants to quit at Ibrox.
