Rangers ready bid to sign Colombian forward Santiago Moreno
Rangers are ready to table a bid to sign CD America forward Santiago Moreno this summer but they face competition from Norwich, according to Pipe Sierra.
Sierra is a journalist for Colombian broadcaster WinSports. He’s previously shared updates on Alfredo Morelos’ situation at Ibrox before his last Twitter account was suspended and he has to make a new one.
He now claims via his personal Twitter account that the Gers are preparing an offer worth £2.5million to sign Moreno but they do so with the attacker attracting attention from Premier League newcomers Norwich and a team in the MLS.
It is understood that CD America want a sell-on clause in the deal that could see them make more money in the future.
Let’s hope he’s as good as the current Colombian
Rangers could do with adding to their wide options this summer with Steven Gerrard not exactly having a wealth of wingers in his squad.
Ryan Kent is bound to hold down a spot on the left-wing but last season we saw Gerrard regularly swap around who starts on the right.
Ianis Hagi, Kemar Roofe and Joe Aribo are not natural wingers while Jordan Jones and Glenn Middleton, who are both wingers, may not have a future at Ibrox after being sent out on loan last season.
According to transfermarkt, Moreno spent most of last season playing on the right-wing for CD America while he can also play on the left and as a centre-forward.
The 21-year-old made 25 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring six goals and supplying four assists in the process.
It’s hard to say whether he’d be a strong signing for Rangers but he is the type of player who we’d like to see at Ibrox next season.
In other Rangers news, fans are urging the club to sell this player before next season kicks off.
