Rangers Super Fans want Brandon Barker sold this summer

This is part of a regular series from our panel of Rangers Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Ibrox. You can join in the discussion on our Rangers Insider Facebook page.

Rangers fans want to see back of Brandon Barker this summer with the winger failing to impress during his time at Ibrox.

Barker, 24, joined the Gers in 2019 after spending his entire career on the books at Manchester City.

He’d previously impressed in the Premiership during a loan spell at Hibernian but he’s struggled to hit similar heights in Glasgow.

In total, Barker has made just 26 appearances for Rangers in all competitions and only scored three goals.

Last season, we saw him appear every now and then as a substitute for Steven Gerrard before being sent out on loan to Oxford United in England’s League One.

During his time at the Kassam Stadium, Barker played 22 times, scored three goals and supplied four assists in what was a very decent stint.

However, we asked our panel of Rangers Super Fans whether they think Barker should remain at Ibrox past the end of this summer and there was overwhelming support for him to be sold.

Here is what was said:

It’s pretty clear that no one is going to lose any sleep if Barker leaves Ibrox this summer.

We’ve got nothing against him and he’s a great professional but it is very clear that he’s not at the same level as most of Steven Gerrard’s squad.

While he had a good time at Oxford United, that’s the third tier of English football – we’re a Champions League club now.

Barker could get the club some decent money but as he’s in the last year of his contract, it’s vital a sale is made in this transfer window otherwise the Gers run the risk of losing him for nothing.

In other Rangers news, this star player seemingly wants to quit the club.
