Alfredo Morelos seemingly wants to quit Rangers to join Porto
Portuguese newspaper A Bola suggests Alfredo Morelos wants to quit Rangers this summer to join Porto.
It is understood that Porto manager Sergio Conceição wants to sign Morelos, 25, this summer but the striker’s agent Michael Gorman has told both the Portuguse giants and his client that the Gers are not budging from their £10.2million valuation.
A Bola claims “the picture is not, for now, favorable to the player’s and FC Porto’s intentions”, which suggests that Morelos wants to leave Ibrox to join Conceição’s side this summer.
First and foremost, we refuse to believe that A Bola is reporting Morelos’ valuation correctly because he’s one of the best goalscores in the UK, a title-winner, a Champions League striker, a Colombia international and was the subject of a £16million bid from Lille last year [Scotsman], that was rejected.
A Bola reports that Cagliari has already seen an offer worth £6.8million reject by the Scottish champions this summer while Morelos has proposals from other clubs.
However, those proposals are from clubs nowhere near the size of Porto, who are expected to win the Portuguese title every year and reach the knock-out stages in the Champions League.
If Morelos wants to leave Ibrox this summer then we feel as though he could be owed that opportunity, especially if it’s to join a team like Porto.
Morelos has done so much for us over the years, playing a huge role in our 55th title win and successive ventures into the Europa League knock-out rounds.
However, the Colombian should only be sold if the price is right and as it stands, the figures do not add up at all.
