Rangers want to sign Caleb Chukwuemeka - report

Rangers want to sign Northampton prospect Caleb Chukwuemeka over the summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper has reported on their website that the Bears are eyeing a compensation deal for the young attacker.

It is suggested that it could only cost up to £60,000 for the striker should Steven Gerrard seal a pre-contract deal.

Rangers have made great use of their contacts south of the border since Gerrard arrived at Ibrox three years ago.

Joe Aribo was the perfect example of a success story, with Nnamdi Ofoborh and Jack Simspon following his lead over the winter.

Plenty of pre-contract moves have been happening, with the Bears able to take advantage of the cross-border rules which severely cuts compensation prices.

£60,000 for an up-and-coming striker linked with the Premier League and Club Brugge would be incredible work.

This could be a smart move for the future.

Chukwuemeka would most likely start with the academy if he was to arrive at Ibrox, with some potential opportunities in the first team.

Having the likes of Gerrard and now Jermain Defoe in our coaching staff, that will be a massive pull for young players to work with the best.

Imagine as a young 19-year-old being able to work under those who you watched while growing up smashing it across the globe.

This is one to keep an eye on, and it certainly won’t be the first signing that is through the doors this summer at Ibrox.
