FC Porto poised to table £10m bid for Alfredo Morelos next week - Report
Champions League quarter-finalists FC Porto are reportedly expected to make a £10million move for Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos next week.
According to The Scottish Sun, the Portuguese side are looking to step up their efforts to sign the Colombian forward after their Financial Fair Play (FFP) sanctions ended.
They’re willing to shell out £10million for his services, but it’s understood that the Glasgow side are looking for a fee between £15million and £20million to let go of their prized asset.
Long summer ahead
We knew that once the window opened there was going to be an array of clubs keen on signing Morelos and that’s precisely what we’re seeing unfold.
Thus far, FC Porto seem to be the club most interested in signing him but are only offering us half the player’s valuation.
We signed him for a meagre £1million in 2017, and are undoubtedly set to make a huge profit off his sale.
Morelos has served us diligently but it’s important to understand that while we would want him to stay, he may have loftier ambitions and the best thing to do is cash in on him while his value is high and there is a demand for his services.
The Scottish Sun speak only about Porto’s interest, but his agent Michael Gorman was in Portugal a few days ago and is aware that a number of potential suitors are eyeing the striker.
Morelos is on international duty at the Copa America is not expected to complete a move in the coming weeks, at least until he’s relieved off his international duties.
He appears destined to leave this summer as Portuguese newspaper A Bola have suggested that he wants to leave Scotland this summer to join Porto.
We must capitalise on Sergio Conceicao’s long-standing interest in his services and try to drive up his price as high as we possibly can.
