Agent of Rangers star Alfredo Morelos didn't hold talks with Porto
Rangers hitman Alfredo Morelos has been linked with a summer exit again as widely expected, and his agent Michael Gorman was recently in Portugal.
According to A Bola, he scheduled a trip to the European Union country to listen to bids from domestic heavyweights Porto and discuss his client’s potential Ibrox departure.
However, Daily Record have moved to quell the rumours, reporting on their live blog today [at 08:57am] that Morelos’ representative was in the country for another transfer for an English club.
Good news… for now
We wish Morelos could stay at Ibrox for at least one more season, but that is not guaranteed.
The Rangers star is expected to move on someday, but manager Steven Gerrard could do with him as he aims to defend the Premiership title and impress in Europe again next term.
The Bears need all hands on deck to boost their chances of qualifying for the group stages of the Champions League for the first time in a decade, and Morelos’ services would come in handy.
The Colombian was a menace to opposition defences in the Europa League last term, and we could do with him again in 2021-22.
Porto appear to be seriously interested in him [A Bola], though, and Rangers could be keen to cash in should they table a juicy bid.
Premier League sides could also come forward for his signature, and the chance to play in one of Europe’s top five leagues is tempting.
We would be heartbroken to see Morelos leave, but if he does, it will be as a Light Blues hero.
The 25-year-old has scored 94 goals and 43 assists in 182 appearances for us [Transfer Markt], and it does not come any better than that.
In other Rangers news, Euro title-winner has responded when asked if he wants to join the Bears this summer.
