BBC pundits thrilled by Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara, moot Premier League interest

Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara earned glowing praise from a couple of BBC pundits on Monday evening during Finland’s crunch Euro 2020 clash with Belgium.

The 25-year-old was named in Finland’s starting XI for the third consecutive game as they went in search of a result that could earn them a shock passage into the knock-out rounds.

It’s Finland’s first appearance at a major tournament, and they made the best possible start in their first fixture when they upset the odds to beat Denmark 1-0, though they lost to Russia in their following game.

However, Kamara has already done enough to impress BBC commentators Jonathan Pearce and Martin Keown, who waxed lyrical about the Gers’ midfielder’s abilities during commentary on Monday night [21/06/21].

“This man’s had a good Euros, Glen Kamara of Rangers,” Pearce said.

Keown replied: “Very good, I really like him on the ball, he’s brave in possession.”

The BBC duo also suggested Kamara is on the radar of some clubs in England.

Pearce said: “Terrific campaign he’s had for Rangers. Premier League teams are looking at him now.”

Keown: “I’m sure of it.”

Proving himself on the big stage

Rangers fans know all about Kamara’s qualities, but it looks like he has opened himself up to a different, wider audience that have already noted his undoubted star quality.

He’s been an impressive performer for us in the Scottish Premiership and Europa League, but the European Championship’s are a different level, and he’s still making waves.

That’s even more impressive because he is playing for a Finland side that are huge underdogs at the tournament.

As such, Kamara’s time on the ball has been massively restricted, a complete contrast to his games for Rangers where we tend to dominate possession, particularly in domestic fixtures.

But despite Finland’s deep defensive block, Kamara has still managed to pull the strings, and he is their go-to guy when they do manage to retrieve the ball for short periods.

We hope to see Finland progress into the knock-out stages so we can continue to see Kamara ply his trade against the best talents in Europe.

That would surely boost his valuation, but we hope to keep hold of him for another year.

In other Rangers news, five clubs are queuing up for this Gers talent that Michael Beale raved about in 2019.
