Porto want to sign Alfredo Morelos from Rangers - report

Porto are interested in signing Rangers goal-machine Alfredo Morelos this summer, according to A Bola.

The Portuguese outlet have reported on their website that the Colombian international is the dream signing of Sergio Conceição.

It is suggested that Morelos could cost up to £17million as a minimum fee, meaning it could even get higher than that at Ibrox.

Morelos has done the business against Porto in Europe before, and was likely in their thinking ever since his strike.

The South American is currently away with Colombia in the COPA America, making any move highly unlikely.

It won’t be long after his return that Champions League qualifiers start, and Steven Gerrard will no doubt field his strongest side.

Morelos will be involved, and his valuation has been described as a big problem for the likes of Porto.

No chance.

If any club wants Morelos this summer, they will have to stump up a lot of cash.

With Champions League football along with the Scottish Premiership title, this level of success will bring more financial boosts to Ibrox.

There isn’t an immediate need to sell our best players, and there certainly won’t be a desire for any of them to leave Glasgow.

Gerrard will be looking at this and laughing, who’d have thought that four years ago, Porto would be contemplating throwing £20million at one of our players?

The simple answer will be no, they can’t really afford him, and there won’t be any occasion where the Bears have to accept a cut-price deal.

Morelos has admitted his desire to play in the Premier League one day, but whether Portugal is a huge step up? We’re not convinced.
