Alex McLeish: Numerous clubs will be watching Glen Kamara at EUROs
We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Alex McLeish has insisted that plenty of clubs will be watching Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara at the European Championships.
The Finland international starred in his countries first-ever win at a major tournament over Denmark last night, although the football took a major backstep.
McLeish believes that Kamara is only going to get better too, and admired his serious rise through the ranks in his career.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish admitted that clubs will be watching, “Yeah, listen, he’s had a big rise in football from Dundee.
“Getting recognised by Finland, going to Rangers, he’s passing all of the tests. He’s so important to Rangers and he’s only getting better and better.
“The experience of guys like that, who have serious talent, European football help them progress with these clashes against the big teams.
“Rangers are very keen to keep him.”
Kamara was incredible against Denmark last night, in difficult circumstances after what tragically happened to Christian Eriksen.
The Bears midfielder made two tackles and kept more possession of the ball than any Finnish player according to WhoScored.
McLeish is clearly sending a warning to the likes of Steven Gerrard, and he must get the new contract sorted instantly.
It is suggested that he wants to remain at Ibrox, so it shouldn’t take much to convince him, and all Gers fans will want the club to give Kamara whatever he wants.
