Nnamdi Ofoborh reveals injury hell, admits he could miss Rangers pre-season

Rangers player Nnamdi Ofoborh has revealed his injury hell over the past couple of months while on loan at Wycombe.

The midfielder signed a pre-contract at Ibrox back in the winter window, but it was agreed that he would stay with the Championship side until the end of the season.

After missing out with no particular explanation from Gareth Ainsworth, Ofoborh has come out to break his silence and revealing his injury problems.

Speaking to the Daily Record on Sunday, Ofoborh admitted he is confident he will recover for pre-season, but didn’t offer a definitive answer on the subject.

“In the last few months it just got worse,” he said. “It got to a point where I didn’t feel it was right for the coaches to put me in.

“But I was struggling with the injury and that’s why I didn’t play.

“I’m confident that when I get to Rangers for pre-season I’ll be ready to go. I’m still on the mend but by the time I get there I hope to be where I need to be.”

Disaster.

It is hard to see where Ofoborh will fit in at Ibrox.

If the midfielder has any chance of playing regularly next season, he will need to shine in pre-season, because Steven Gerrard won’t have seen anything from him in recent months.

Staying at Wycombe was perfect on paper, as he could shine through a relegation battle, and play in difficult circumstances while proving his worth, but he missed a huge chunk of the business end.

That is just bad news, and could ultimately lead to him leaving on loan yet again.

Ofoborh will want to join up on day one of pre-season and prove his worth, but he has to be at 100%, and not risk anything just because he wants to impress.

Time will tell if this was a smart move.
