Borna Barisic refuses to rule out possible Rangers exit

Borna Barisic has shared his happiness at playing for Rangers but refused to rule out a move to one of Europe’s top five leagues in the future.

The left-back loves the club and the fanbase and says he has been won over since joining in 2018, but he clearly holds big ambitions too.

Recent speculation has linked Barisic with a move to Roma [Gazetta Dello Sport], while West Ham were also said to be interested [Express].

In an interview with Croatian outlet Sportske Novosti, Barisic talked about Rangers and his future, saying, “That club is unique. When it creeps into your heart it stays there forever.

“I can just say I love Rangers. Honestly.

“Offers are normal in football but when I talk about the club and the fans, it is a big wonderful family. They totally won me over.

“I see how full their hearts are, that sincere joy and love for the club, it’s fantastic.”

In response to a question asking whether he wants to play in Europe’s top five leagues Barisic answered, “Of course, far be it for me to say no.

“But I can’t comment on anything, I have a contract for another three years, we will see what the future will bring.”

Going to stay?

Borna Barisic seems very settled at Ibrox so we cannot see him leaving this summer unless the club is keen to raise funds.

It would be foolish to let him go though, as he has got better and better in his time with us.

He is also key to our free-flowing attacking style, with both him and captain James Tavernier creating havoc from full-back this season.

Barisic also links up really well with Ryan Kent, and his ability in defence means the winger has the freedom to roam forward, often moving centrally because Barisic has provided width on the overlap.

There is likely to be interest in the Croatia international this summer due to his impressive form this season.

Strong performances in the Euros could also see new clubs linked, but that could also lead his transfer value to rise.
