Confirmed Rangers starting XI v Livingston

Rangers have made two changes to their starting XI ahead of their Scottish Premiership clash against Livingston on Wednesday evening.

The Light Blues haven’t been in action since their 4-1 Old Firm drubbing over Celtic on May 2, so Steven Gerrard’s side have had nine full days of recovery.

Confirmed on their official Twitter account prior to kick-off, Borna Barisic drops out for Ianis Hagi while Jon McLaughlin replaces Gers stalwart Allan McGregor in goal.

Left-back Barisic was taken off injured at Ibrox and Gerrard told Rangers’ Twitter account on Tuesday that he would be missing for the trip to Livi.

He also ruled Leon Balogun, Filip Helander and Scott Arfield out, while Nikola Katic and Ryan Jack remain longer-term absentees.

With Calvin Bassey and Nathan Patterson still suspended after their COVID breach earlier this year, the biggest question mark surrounded the left-back position, but it appears that Joe Aribo will fill that berth tonight.

Final hurdles

The Light Blues are just two games away from crowning themselves as Scottish Premiership Invincibles.

A sensational 2020/21 campaign has seen Rangers rack up 36 league games without defeat, with Livingston and Aberdeen the only opponents in their way en route to glory.

The title was wrapped up a long time ago but with our Scottish Cup defeat last month, allied to our Europa League exit in March, the Premiership has taken on greater significance of late.

It’s a huge chance for the players and staff to inscribe their name into Gers and Scottish folklore, and now we’re so close we’re desperate to achieve it.

Gerrard will be hoping for a less dramatic affair than the last time he visited Almondvale, though.

He was sent off at half-time of that nervy 1-0 win in March after remonstrating with referee John Beaton after some controversial decisions by the official.

Alfredo Morelos’ was the hero then, as he scored the only goal of the game in the 87th minute to clinch victory for Gerrard’s side.
