Sevilla need to strengthen their midfield this summer and director of football Monchi is keen on signing Rangers star Ianis Hagi, report Fichajes.
The Romanian was linked with a move to Lazio earlier this month [Sport] so the youngster may have a number of options this summer.
Steven Gerrard is keen to keep Hagi however, and he has been impressed by his desire in training and on game day [The Scottish Sun].
But Ficjhajes claim Hagi has been on Sevilla’s radar for some time and this summer he could finally make the switch to the La Liga outfit.
Hagi is very highly rated at Ibrox and it would probably take a substantial offer for us to let him go.
Michael Beale has called the winger “fantastic” [The National] and Gerrard is an even bigger fan of the 22-year-old.
Per The Scottish Sun, Gerrard has expressed his delight at Hagi’s development, in terms of both his gym work and his quality on the pitch – the Gers boss described him as a “dream” to work with.
It is no surprise Monchi is keen to sign him, particularly as Hagi has flourished in a competition Sevilla love – the Europa League – having won it four times in the last seven years.
And one of Hagi’s performances in that competition last year – against Braga – caught the eye of compatriot Ilie Dumitrescu.
The former Romania international called Hagi a “genius” [Daily Record] due to the creativity he showed to create two goals.
Hagi has gone from strength to strength with seven goals and 12 assists this term, and because of that Rangers may have a battle to keep him at Auchenhowie.
