View: Rangers ready three-year deal for Doekhi, proves Simpson deal was shocker
Rangers are preparing a summer move for impressive Vitesse defender Danilho Doekhi, according to Gelderlander.
The Dutch outlet have reported on their website that the Bears are readying a three-year contract for the 22-year-old at Ibrox.
Steven Gerrard is already making moves to improve his squad in the upcoming summer, with Fashion Sakala already in advanced talks.
Doekhi would be an interesting addition to the squad, with there appearing to be little need for another defender at Ibrox.
The 22-year-old certainly wouldn’t have been needed, but Gerrard must not be happy with some of the depth he has available to him.
In Doekhi’s latest performance against the impressive Feyenoord, he made four tackles and four clearances as he earned his side a 0-0 draw [WhoScored].
Newcastle and Fulham are also reportedly tracking the defender, and an early move could see the Light Blues take the lead for his signature.
The Gers are reportedly looking for another defender this summer, despite Jack Simpson arriving from Bournemouth in January.
It hasn’t been a successful move at all, with the enforcer struggling with injuries, and only just making his debut in the Scottish Premiership recently.
In the 1-1 draw with St Johnstone last week, it was Simpson who handed them the last-minute penalty with a clumsy challenge that proved he has a lot of work to do.
With Leon Balogun signing a new contract, and Filip Helander and Conor Goldson ahead in the pecking order, Simpson could be lined up for a loan switch after this campaign.
