Derek Ferguson and Frank McAvennie have backed Rangers to beat St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals on Sunday evening.
The duo both believe that Steven Gerrard will guide his side to Hampden, but they differed on their final scores at Ibrox.
Ferguson backed his former side to keep a clean sheet while cruising past the Saints, but McAvennie believes the away side will cause problems and score in Glasgow.
Speaking on the Open Goal Show, McAvennie made the bold prediction which left the others shocked listening in.
“Rangers and both to score,” he said.
Ferguson reacted with only one word at first: “Wow.”
If Wednesday’s game proved anything, it will be that this game will be far from straightforward on Sunday evening.
Gerrard may have made plenty of changes for the 1-1 draw, and will probably do the same again in the Scottish Cup, the Saints pushed us all the way.
On a different evening, they could easily have had a couple of penalties and ultimately have ended our unbeaten run in the Scottish Premiership.
There hasn’t been one easy clash against Callum Davidson’s men this season, and Gerrard will want to change that this weekend, and assert our dominance at the top of the pile in Scotland.
With Celtic gone, courtesy of the Gers, we are the clear favourites now, and it is time to show everyone why with another commanding performance; bring it on.
