We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Alex McLeish has agreed with Chris Sutton’s verdict on Rangers and the SFA stance on Nathan Patterson’s upcoming ban.
The former Celtic man believes that the authorities and Steven Gerrard are being lenient on the youngster as he is seen as a talented player.
McLeish believes that Sutton is pushing for a statement to be released so that everyone can make a real judgement on what happened with the COVID-Five.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “Again, hearing all of the versions and saying it wasn’t the same kind of level as others.
“You would expect us to hear why that was the case. I guess Chris is doing his bit to get a statement made, and if it comes, Chris has done a good job in making Rangers make a statement.
“I get what he’s saying, in terms of, you can’t do it because it’s a talented guy. You can’t have that diversity, but Chris has done pretty well at that chat and that’s why he’s a top presenter.”
It feels strange for anyone to be agreeing with Sutton on something to do with the Bears, especially this season with his bitterness.
Having said that, we don’t believe that he is pushing for a statement to be released, he wants to see bans handed out after what happened to Celtic earlier in the season.
This is nothing to do with the football, and although he may be popular with viewers, it just appears to be getting more petty with each appearance.
We will soon have the answers that everyone wants, and the statements will come as soon as the appeal has been completed.
