Referee disperses Slavia Prague players as they show their stance against racism
Slavia Prague players were dispersed by the referee as they opted against taking a knee against Arsenal on Thursday night.
With Slavia’s Ondrej Kudela banned by UEFA amid allegations he racially abused Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara in the last round of the Europa League, Slavia players decided to line up together at the start of the game rather than taking a knee.
You can see below [images via BT Sport 1] how the players line up to do this but the referee instantly comes over to tell the players to get back into their positions to get ready to kick off.
There’s clear confusion among the faces of Slavia players after their show of solidarity against racism is broken up by the ref.
Arsenal players then take a knee as Slavia players stay on their feet and get ready to kick off.
Hypocrisy
How can Slavia do anything to show they’re in the fight against racism? It’s honestly infuriating to see such a hypocritical display from a club that has vilified an alleged victim of racist abuse.
Slavia have called Kamara’s claims “imaginary” and described the midfielder’s allegation as “disgusting”.
In that statement after the match at Ibrox last month, they then tried to cover up the issue by constantly going on about the Kemar Roofe red card incident in the match and claimed Kamara “cowardly” attacked Kudela after the game.
This was within hours after the game had finished.
Slavia can write as many statements as they want and take as many hollow stances against racism as they want but they made their bed as soon as they released that statement. That told you what kind of club this is.
Whether they want to take the knee or not is totally up to them but the fact they had the cheek to show their own stance is hypocrisy of the highest scale.
In other Rangers news, Kamara’s lawyer has torn Kudela’s defence to shreds.
