Cameras catch Alfredo Morelos attempting to wind up James Tavernier against Cove Rangers

Alfredo Morelos sat on the bench yesterday but he still caught the limelight when he attempted to wind up Rangers teammate James Tavernier.

The Colombian was sat by himself due to Covid protocol and was clearly lacking stimulation, so he picked up an object and threw it at his captain, sitting a few rows in front.

Tavernier acknowledged the hit but did little more – it was as if he already knew it was the mischievous Morelos and did not want to encourage him further.

As the video shows, Morelos threw whatever object it was with some vigour, and the action shows the 24-year-old entertains even when he fails to get onto the pitch.

Typical Alfredo

This is the Morelos we all know and love so much.

He has a cheeky side to him and we are sure his teammates must get frustrated with his antics at times.

It shows the players get on though, as Tavernier could have reacted angrily – he knows Morelos well so accepts he is going to act up at times.

Rangers

We hope the camaraderie that exists will encourage stars like Morelos to stay this summer.

Rangers may need to sell some players and Morelos is an obvious candidate for departure given his likely cost, but it would be shame to lose such a character.

The striker is a key part of Steven Gerrard’s side on the pitch but likely has a big role off it too, one that would be difficult to replace.

We have no idea how the cameras caught this incident but it brought a smile to our face during another good win.
