Filip Helander thinks Steven Davis is a future manager and says Scott Arfield is team joker
Filip Helander faced quick-fire questions from the Rangers media team and shared that Scott Arfield is the team joker.
When asked about a potential future manager in the squad he pointed to Steven Davis, one of the most experienced players in the team.
He admitted that he is the worst dancer in the dressing room and said that Ryan Kent is the fastest player in the squad.
The sit-down interview was a good chance to get an insight into the mind of Helander and how he sees the current squad and possible future changes.
Deserves more credit
Helander seems settled at Ibrox and his regular game time is no doubt a factor in helping him feel important.
He has made a big impact alongside Conor Goldson and we believe he is slightly unappreciated.
Goldson is getting tips from pundits to be Rangers player of the year – Billy Dodds picked him out last week [Sportsound] – but Helander has been key to the defence too.
The fact he has kept Leon Balogun out of the centre-back position in recent weeks is a testament to his performances.
Also, he has attracted Premier League interest according to Sport Bladet, with Aston Villa and Leciester City keeping an eye on the 27-year-old.
That says a lot about how good the Sweden international is, and we think more people should be recognising Helander’s importance to the team.
Steven Gerrard deserves credit for bringing him in and adding Balogun to create fierce competition.
That has led all of our central defenders to improve, and we have conceded just 10 goals in 33 league games as a result.
