Slavia Prague chief apologises after video of Rangers ace Hagi emerges
Slavia Prague chief Jaroslav Tvrdik has posted an apology for the animosity shown between his club and Rangers in the last week.
Last Thursday, Slavia’s Ondrej Kudela was alleged to have racially abused Glen Kamara during the Czech side’s 2-0 win at Ibrox in the Europa League.
Slavia have since denied Kamara’s claims and even released an incendiary statement that accused the Rangers midfielder of making an “imaginary” allegation.
Earlier this week, a video clip emerged of Rangers star Ianis Hagi and Slavia’s Nicolae Stanciu having a kickabout together while on international duty with Romania.
Slavia’s chairman of the board of directors Tvrdik has since responded to that video clip of the two players by taking to his personal Twitter account to say what has happened between his club and Rangers goes against what football is all about.
He said: “Football is a joy, euphoria, emotion and connecting people for all fans.
“Slavia and Rangers managed the exact opposite.
“We are very sorry, maybe one day we will find a way out of our disputes as these great Romanian players of both clubs.”
Hypocrite
If Tvrdik seems to think that this tweet is an olive branch of some kind then he can forget about it.
We have not forgotten what he tweeted last week in the aftermath of the alleged racist incident.
Tvrdik used his Twitter account, which is followed by over 32,000 people, to say Slavia “categorically opposes the fact that the player Ondrej Kudela racistly insulted the players’ opponents in any way”.
He then added: “At the request of Slavia, the case was resolved by the local police.”
Of course, Police Scotland have since confirmed that “no reports of criminality” were made last Thursday night [Daily Record].
Tvrdik’s tweet was just as dangerous as Slavia’s official statement, which must have been passed by him due to how highly he sits at the Czech club.
How can someone so quickly shoot down the allegation of racism?
How can a club be so quick to call someone who says he’s been racially abused a liar?
It’s disgusting and we simply won’t forgive Slavia, Kudela or anyone associated with that club’s management until a full apology is made about absolutely everything.
Football matches are rough and get out of hand sometimes. We don’t condone Kemar Roofe’s challenge on their goalkeeper for one minute but to suggest that is anywhere near the level of alleged racist is abhorrent.
Slavia must be kicked out of the competition immediately and handed a massive ban for future seasons.
They might finally change their backwards attitude then.
In other Rangers news, here’s what Kudela said to a UEFA investigator about the alleged racially abuse of Kamara.
