Gary Lineker applauds sportmanship between Glen Kamara and Scott Brown

Scott Brown greeted Rangers star Glen Kamara ahead of the 1-1 Old Firm daw on Sunday and Gary Lineker was impressed by the pair’s show of sportsmanship.

Kamara has had a difficult few days after suffering racial abuse against Slavia Praha on Thursday.

The club then accused him of lying about the incident and assaulting their player Ondřej Kúdela, the man who allegedly abused Kamara.

Brown took it upon himself to shake Kamara’s hand while warming up for the match in a poignant show of support.

Lineker applauded the respect shown between the midfielders with a simple hand-clapping emoji.

The Celtic skipper is so often a thorn in our side and jumps at any chance to ridicule and wind us up.

However, on this occasion he has ignored the rivalry and done a very honourable thing by wishing Kamara well.

It is signs of solidarity such as this that are frequently missing from the game and we appreciate all the support we can get, even from Celtic.

Brown did not let the incident affect his mindset on the pitch though – and neither did Kamara for that matter.

They are real gladiators and exemplify exactly what the Old Firm is about.

Credit must go to Kamara for showing the character to overcome Thursday’s horror event to play in such a big fixture.

He played very well too despite all the distraction and proved why he has been such an important player for us this season.

We are proud of the manner in which he has dealt with the abuse and are very hopeful he will get justice.
