The Athletic share BTS information on how Gerrard transformed Rangers
The Athletic have shared some behind the scenes information about how Steven Gerrard transformed Rangers completely after he was appointed manager.
Gerrard’s achievements in his three years at Ibrox are staggering and the improvement in the performances of his players is almost unbelievable.
The Athletic’s Rangers reporter, Jordan Campbell, has shared some of the changes Gerrard made upon his appointment as Gers boss.
“He’s transformed the club at all levels,” Campbell told the Ornstein and Chapman podcast.
“Whether it was the layout of the canteen to make it more communal, changing rooms where redesigned.
“Gyms, there was new equipment brought in. There was an analysis room annexed onto the first-team changing room to make it more open for players to go in and out and try and improve their game.
“The pitch was relayed to be a hybrid pitch. There was a cage put up to protect their secrets. At every level, Gerrard’s left his fingerprint on it.”
This is why Gerrard has come in for so much praise after our historic 55th title was secured last weekend.
Our manager came in and changed the entire mentality and identity of the club in such a short space of time and this list of changes he made has clearly contributed to our meteoric rise over the last three years.
It doesn’t speak well to our previous bosses that we didn’t have analysis rooms and a communal canteen in years gone by if these small changes helped to make the squad a cohesive unit.
That’s what you get when you bring in a manager who spent his playing career working under managers like Rafael Benitez, world-class coaching.
If anyone has doubted Gerrard’s influence on this title win then this list of radical changes should put those thoughts to bed.
This title is Gerrard’s achievement and that’s why he’s an Ibrox legend.
