Rangers finally sealed their 55th Scottish Premiership title over the weekend, and the celebrations were as wild as anyone could predict.
After smashing St. Mirren at Ibrox, fans gathered outside and the party continued in the dressing room with Steven Gerrard even sliding along the floor.
Derek Ferguson admitted he was nearly in tears and was delighted when seeing the footage of Gerrard letting himself loose.
Speaking on the Blues Brothers Podcast on Monday evening on YouTube, Ferguson was thrilled by what he saw from the gaffer over the weekend.
“What about the manager?” he said.
“The footage in the dressing room of him sliding, that is magic isn’t it? What a release it was, we used to do that.”
Gerrard has kept his cool from minute one this season, clearly learning from his outburst at Celtic Park last season, and that has been perfect.
It was even better to see him release after the title was over the line, and the belly-slide across the changing room floor was perfect in every way.
The Bears squad have bought into every last one of his ideas, and he is clearly connecting on a deeper level than just the manager at Auchenhowie.
We want a manager who can get stuck into the squad when needed but can also celebrate the good times as it will create an unbelievable atmosphere.
Gerrard highlighted his ability to do both during and after that 1-1 draw at Hamilton, and he won’t want to stop at the title; bring on the Europa League.
