Rangers have been given all the motivation they need to beat Slavia Prague after a video of the Czech side celebrating the draw was uploaded to YouTube.
The Gers were drawn against Slavia on Friday after they cruised past Royal Antwerp to set up the tie against the team who impressively saw off Leicester City on Thursday.
Slavia were clearly pretty happy with the draw as, while on the plane back to the Czech Republic, joyous scenes were sparked when Rangers’ name was read out.
In the video, uploaded to the club’s tvslavia channel, you can see several players punching the air and cheering when the draw was confirmed.
They are clearly pretty happy with the draw and to a degree, rightly so after avoiding a clash against Manchester United or AC Milan.
But they shouldn’t be happy about the fact they’ve drawn Rangers unless all of the Slavia squad have a secret affiliation with Ibrox.
We are yet to lose in Europe this season and just scored nine goals across two last 32 legs, that’s not a side you want to face.
With the title wrapped up Steven Gerrard can put all of his efforts into a strong European run which means a full-strength Gers team, hampered only by injury, will line up for both legs.
This video will only do more harm than good for Slavia as Gerrard would be mad to not show his squad this footage ahead of the game.
It is the video equivalent of when a manager calls another side poor and the phrase ‘he’s done the team talk for them’ is entirely appropriate.
Those Rangers players will go out and make sure similar celebrations are not seen on the pitch as coming up against the Gers is nothing to look forward to.
Posting that embarrassing video is akin to shooting yourself in the foot ahead of a crucial game and Rangers have all the extra motivation they need.
In other Rangers news, Antwerp have sent a classy message to one Gers star.
