Rangers backed to make history as supercomputer makes prediction after Celtic win

Rangers are predicted to surpass the 100-point mark this season following their victory against Celtic in the Old Firm last weekend.

Predictions specialists FiveThirtyEight, who use their soccer power index to build their club soccer predictions, belive that the Gers will finish the campaign on 101 points.

Steven Gerrard’s side moved 19 points clear at the top of the Premiership following their 1-0 win against the Hoops, in a victory that for many people all-but secured the title for Rangers this season.

FiveThirtyEight give the Gers a 96% chance of winning the league this season and believe they will finish with a huge goal difference of +80.

A huge incentive for Rangers

Smashing past the 100-point mark would round off what is poised to be a historic campaign for Rangers.

It would not quite be enough to beat Celtic’s 2016/17 record of 106 points, but it would remain an incredible achievement for Gerrard’s side.

As per Transfermarkt, finishing on 101 points would be Rangers’ best Premiership points total in their history.

It would also represent an incredible improvement for the Gers, who finished on just 67 points during the 2019/20 campaign.

It highlights the incredible job that Gerrard and his staff are currently doing at Ibrox, with attention now turning towards a title charge during the second half of the season.

The Rangers manager refused to get carried away after the victory against Celtic, but it looks like the Gers are very much on the verge of history this season.

In other Rangers news, senior figures at the SFA are privately sceptical about these behind–the-scenes talks at Ibrox.
