‘It didn’t happen’ – Motherwell boss refuses to credit Rangers following Ibrox loss

Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson has refused to credit Rangers after the Gers came from behind to beat the Steelmen on Saturday.

The Light Blues went behind to a Callum Lang strike early in the first half but a brace from Kemar Roofe and a Cedric Itten goal gave the Gers another league win.

After the game, Robinson refused to credit the Gers’ second-half performance and claimed that he never felt under threat, despite losing 3-1.

Robinson is quoted by the Daily Record as saying, “It wasn’t worn down from their good play, it was worn down from three decisions that ultimately cost us. That’s the frustrating thing.

“They were making lots of subs, there was a lot of quality coming onto the pitch, but I didn’t feel like they were going to score. I didn’t feel under threat.

“The three goals were from three of our mistakes – it wasn’t great play where you hold your hands up and say ‘Davo’s cut you open’ or ‘Hagi’s done something magic’, it didn’t happen.”

Rangers

This is a slightly surreal claim from Robinson as, ultimately, his team lost 3-1 to the better side on the day.

According to SofaScore, Steven Gerrard’s side had 82% of the possession throughout the game and created five big chances.

This would suggest that the Gers were the side on top but anyone who watched the game would be able to tell you that.

In truth, Motherwell only created one big chance themselves, according to SofaScore, which suggests that they had very little chance of winning the game.

These comments from Robinson are coming across as very bitter and it seems as though these are quotes from a manager who is annoyed that his team threw away an early lead.

The Gers were the better side and deservedly won the game and to claim that he never thought Rangers were going to score is simply ludicrous from Robinson.
