‘World-class’, ‘Perfect 10’ – Many Rangers fans blown away by ‘MOTM’ in narrow win v Dundee Utd
Rangers fans were blown away by James Tavernier’s majestic performance in the 2-1 win away at Dundee United on Sunday afternoon.
Tavernier, 29, opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a stunning free-kick from long-range before assisting Connor Goldson’s goal, which turned out to be the winner just before half-time.
The right-back has now scored 17 goals in all competitions for Rangers this season, while also supplying 13 assists.
If you had told us before the season started that Tavernier would be directly involved in 30 goals – yes, 30 – before Christmas, we probably would have laughed. But the ex-Newcastle defender has been in outrageous form for the Scottish Premiership leaders.
While fans obviously hailed Tavernier as their man of the match at Tannadice, one even said that the right-back has “won player of the year already“.
It would take something spectacular for him to not win that award but we’re sure that the biggest achievement for Tav would be to lift the Scottish Premiership title at the end of the season.
Title No. 55 is look as though it’s on it’s way to Ibrox and these fans are all thankful for Tavernier’s role in the stunning start to the campaign.
Here is a selection of their tweets:

Rangers are pretty much guaranteed to qualify for the Champions League next season as long as they don’t implode between now and the rest of the campaign.
That could play a massive role in helping keep Tavernier at Ibrox, because there’s no doubt there’ll be teams south of the border who want to sign him next summer.
Let’s hope he wants to stay put in Glasgow but it’s likely that Steven Gerrard’s resolve will be tested.
In other Rangers news, Sky Sports noticed a moment of petulance by Alfredo Morelos at Tannadice.
