Alfredo Morelos was not happy about being substituted off in Rangers’ 2-1 win against Dundee United at Tannadice on Sunday.

Steven Gerrard’s men went 15 points clear of second-placed Hibernian win their ninth consecutive Scottish Premiership win but the trip to Firth of Tay estuary wasn’t a jolly one for centre-forward Morelos.

The 24-year-old was very lucky to avoid getting sent off in the first-half when he aimed an elbow at United’s Mark Connolly.

He then squandered a number of chances inside the Dundee United penalty area when he really should have scored to get his first league goal since September.

After he was taken off to be replaced by Cedric Itten, Ally McCoist pointed out on Sky Sports Football’s commentary that Morelos was “not happy”.

Sky Sports commentator Ian Crocker pointed out “he kicked the gate there”.

Rotten day out for El Bufalo

Morelos hit the target twice on Sunday. One was Connolly’s face with his elbow and the other was a gate in the stand at Tannadice.

One Rangers fan, who was less than happy with the striker’s show of petulance and performance, hit the nail on the head with a tweet about his outing.

Morelos has been off the boil all year.

The sooner 2020 is over then Morelos will surely be glad because he’s seen a lot of transfer speculation surrounding him which amounted to nothing.

He might have been unhappy about not joining a team like Lille but at the end of the day, he’s not going to get a good move elsewhere unless he picks his game up.

We’re not going to start saying Morelos should be sold in January or at the end of the season because we know how prolific he can be.

But that game against Dundee United summed up the worst of Morelos.

He can be an absolute liability with his ill-discipline and his lack of form in front of goal is proving to be a burden only he can sort out.

In other Rangers news, Sky Sports have messed the Gers around with a crazy turn of events this week.
