Rangers fans are looking forward to seeing Bongani Zungu in action after Steven Gerrard said that the South African would start against Lech Poznan on Thursday.

Zungu has been starved of first-team chances since he arrived at Ibrox this summer and only has one start to his name.

This looks set to change on Thursday as the Gers look to secure top spot in their Europa League group.

Speaking in his pre-game press conference Gerrard said, “Bongani will be playing tomorrow and it is a fantastic opportunity for him to perform.”

After only starting against Falkirk in the Scottish League Cup, Thursday’s game presents Zungu with a huge opportunity to show his quality.

The 28-year-old only has 135 minutes under his belt as a Rangers player and he will be desperate to perform as Gers fans look forward to watching their summer signing in action.

Zungu initially had to isolate after arriving in Scotland and then picked up a few knocks as he has struggled to prove his fitness.

It now seems as though the South African is ready to start on what could be an important night as the Gers look to secure top spot in their Europa League group with the club looking to avoid a tricky tie in the knockout stages.

Here is how some Rangers fans reacted to the news that Zungu would be starting against Poznan…

We are all hoping that Zungu can put in a quality performance against Poznan and stake a claim for more first-team minutes in the near future.

In other Rangers news, two Gers players have been ruled out of Thursday’s clash against Lech Poznan.
